Following a shooting in Tate County, Mississippi, on Wednesday afternoon, the Tate County Sheriff’s Office stated that one person died and another taken into custody.
Police were called to Coldwater, Mississippi’s Bett-Thyatira Road at 12:37 p.m. due to reports that someone had been shot.
They reported that upon arriving at the location, they spoke with and apprehended a suspect, identified as Marshall County, Mississippi resident Lloyd Hughes.
At the scene, the victim was also found and pronounced dead.
Hughes was arrested and charged with first-degree murder, according to Tate County Sheriff’s Office investigators. The investigation is ongoing.
