Lontrell Williams Sr., the father of Memphis rapper Pooh Shiesty, is expected to be released from federal custody.
According to court records, a judge decided to release Williams Sr. and lifted any temporary stay that was preventing him from being released.
Pooh Shiesty, his father, and seven others were taken into custody in April on allegations of kidnapping and robbing Gucci Mane and two other people at a music studio in Texas.
One of the victims was allegedly forced into signing a release from a recording contract by Pooh Shiesty while brandishing an AK-style pistol.
The other victims were allegedly robbed of cash, jewelry, Rolex watches, and other valuables by the remaining armed suspects.
On July 6, Pooh Shiesty is scheduled to go on trial in a federal courtroom.
