According to Memphis police, three teenagers—two 14-year-olds and a 17-year-old—have been detained and charged in relation to 21 car thefts that occurred between July 12 and July 18.
Following an investigation into thefts of Hyundai and Kia vehicles, the two 14-year-olds were already charged with 17 offenses back in April.
Thefts of Hyundai and Kia vehicles have increased this month, and when they started looking into it, they saw that the suspects’ appearance and methods resembled those of the April thefts.
On Tuesday, the suspects were found and taken into custody.
The suspects may be connected to additional auto thefts throughout the city, according to police, and they may be charged with more offenses.
