Despite body cam technology being a part of the West Memphis school system since last year, the upcoming semester will be the first year that it is being completely utilized, according to Superintendent Eric Foster.
“What we’re looking at is for secondary principals and ministers to have the body cams to be able to have interaction recorded for full transparency for both students, parents and the staff.” Foster said.
The plan, for now, will be that camera will only be for secondary principals and administrators. Foster noted that he is unsure if teachers would receive the technology in the future.
This year, West Memphis Schools will also be implementing more AI tools.
Any administrator that will be using the camera will receive an extensive training course ahead of the school year.
