On Wednesday, the man charged with killing his three-year-old son Joseph Martinez and putting him in a suitcase before leaving him close to Wolf River Harbor appeared in court.
Saul Martinez admitted to killing his son, according to the police, after the mother reported him missing on Monday.
Tom Lee Park, which Joseph’s grandma claims was a beloved location for him, had a candlelight vigil and balloon release on Tuesday morning in his honor.
While they wait for the case against Maritnez to proceed through the legal system, Joseph’s family says they will continue to support Joseph’s mother.
