A family’s celebration of their grandfather’s 95th birthday at the Olive Branch City Park almost turned tragic when severe weather reared its ugly head on the festivities.
Stephanie Jones said she and her 13 year old daughter Chloe ran from a pavilion to their truck to take cover amidst violent winds when suddenly a tree snapped in half and fell on their vehicle.
Miraculously, both Stephanie and her daughter Chloe were not seriously injured, merely being treated for a few cuts and bruises.
City officials said that the Olive Branch City Park remains closed as crews continue limb removal to ensure the safety of walking trails for community use.
