The grandfather of a man who was shot and killed by the Tennessee National Guard in Memphis over the weekend has expressed his desire for law enforcement to release footage from the shooting.
Evaniel Johnson stated that he is awaiting video evidence to confirm the police story that his 20-year-old grandson, Tyrin Johnson, turned a gun on U.S. guard members while fleeing from them early on Sunday morning.
The National Guard members had been assigned to a crime-fighting patrol in Memphis created last year by President Donald Trump.
According to Johnson’s relatives, the TBI informed them that he had been shot twice in the chest. Regarding what footage was available and when it will be made public, the Memphis Police Department has declined to comment.
