IKEA has requested that the city rename the Cordova Street, the location of its Memphis store, and completely remove the IKEA name from the city.
Less than ten years after it opened, the Swedish home goods store closed on May 3. It was situated on IKEA Way.
The business has now submitted a request to revert to its previous name, Market Plaza Drive, instead of IKEA Way.
The reason cited: “to remove all identification of the former retail location.”
Four additional companies on the block would be impacted by the name change.
