Marco McClendon, the mayor of West Memphis, Arkansas, announced that the city has been granted federal funding for a public transportation system.
The West Memphis Connect bus service will start providing rides in October of this year. Passengers will be allowed to travel for free throughout that month.
During the October debut service period, West Memphis Connect will provide a variety of amenities, including as flexible hours and complimentary trips for the first 1,000 customers.
After October, a $2 fare will be implemented.
The Memphis Transit Authority terminated its bus service in West Memphis eight years prior to the launch of West Memphis Connect.
