Today, the historic LeMoyne-Owen College has been holding a telethon as part of its 807 Giving Day.
Named after the college’s address at 807 Walker Ave, 807 Giving Day is running from 8:07AM to 8:07PM and is seeking to raise at least $200,000 to support student success, scholarships, and campus improvements.
“Days like today, 807 Giving Day, it puts us in a financial position to help close the gap, so when young men and women leave here, they won’t have an unbelievable amount of debt and go out to Memphis and beyond,” LeMoyne-Owen College President Christopher B. Davis stated.
Mayor Paul Young was also in attendance today and said, “My goal as mayor is to build a Memphis where they don’t feel like they have to leave to find opportunity, but they can create opportunity right here in our city.”
Anyone who would like to support today’s campaign can donate here.
