Yesterday, a Memphis tax preparer plead guilty to preparing false tax returns for her clients.
According to the U.S. Department of Justice, 64 year old Selma Brinson of Brinson Tax Services was initially charged with 24 counts of aiding and assisting in the preparation of false tax returns and two counts of witness tampering.
In total, her efforts attempted to defraud the IRS out of more than $5.4 million, a crime for which she will be sentenced on November 10th and face up to three years in prison.
