Due to ongoing building challenges at the Criminal Justice Complex, Memphis Municipal Courts 1, 2, and 3 as well as the Memphis City Court Clerk’s Office will remain closed, even though most operations at 201 Poplar returned to normal on Monday.
Affected cases will be rescheduled, according to officials.
All criminal court divisions, the General Sessions Court Clerk’s offices, satellite locations, the 24-hour Arrest-to-Bail Office, and the General Sessions Civil Court all reopened and began regular activities on Monday, according to the Shelby County General Sessions Criminal Courts.
Concerns regarding the outdated jail’s infrastructure and whether Shelby County should construct a new facility or fix the current one have been reignited by the closures.
