The FedEx St. Jude Championship, currently taking place at TPC Southwind in Memphis, is the high-stakes opening event of the PGA Tour’s postseason.
Only the top 70 golfers from the entire season earned an invite to this prestigious tournament. There is no halfway cut this week, meaning all 69 players will compete through Sunday for a massive $20 million prize.
However, the real pressure lies in the standings: only the top 50 players after this weekend will survive and advance to next week’s playoff event.b
Off the course, the tournament is also sparking local conversation due to future schedule changes. The PGA Tour recently announced that by 2028, Memphis will lose its premier playoff status and transition into a lower-tiered event later in the calendar.
For now, though, the golf world remains entirely focused on the intense, star-studded action unfolding on the greens at TPC Southwind this weekend.
