As fans worldwide gather to Graceland to remember The King, Memphians mourn the loss of an eccentric yet beloved Prince.
Yesterday, Robert Hodges, affectionately known as “Prince Mongo,” passed away at the age of 79 after reportedly falling off a ladder while attempting to trim a tree at his East Memphis home.
Mongo was best remembered as the purported 333 year ambassador of the planet Zambodia who also regularly ran for Memphis Mayor.
Former Mayor Willie Herenton commented on social media, “Prince Mongo was instrumental in helping me to become the first elected Black mayor of Memphis. My prayers are with his family.”
