Today’s Election Day for Shelby County residents, with the ballot including general election races for the county, as well as choosing who will be moving on to November for state and federal contests.
Key positions being contended for locally include Shelby County Mayor, Shelby County Sheriff, and various administrative and judicial positions; while on a state level key congressional and gubernatorial positions are on the ballot.
Notably, early voting in this election exceeded 90,000, which is 5,000 more voters than recorded in recent years.
Local leaders emphasize the importance of voter participation, as the winners of this election could shape how the county handles key issues such as our jail, budget crisis, and other long-term challenges.
Polls will be open from 7AM to 7PM, but anyone in line by the cut-off time is still allowed to vote.
