According to police, a man was taken into custody after reportedly attempting to rob the Germantown Post Office on Wednesday afternoon.
Memphis resident Irby Lewis Chandler was charged with robbery, according to the authorities.
Before leaving the scene, the suspect was said to have given a post office employee a note claiming to be armed and demanding money.
Chandler was taken into custody a short time later by officers nearby.
Police have not disclosed if Chandler took any cash from the post office or actually possessed a weapon.
