According to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, a former Haywood County deputy turned himself in on Tuesday after being charged with rape.
They started looking into a misconduct accusation against 63-year-old Marvin Lee Norfolk, Sr. who was a deputy with the Haywood County Sheriff’s Office at the time, in August 2025.
A woman was allegedly sexually assaulted by Norfolk during a traffic check, according to evidence acquired by agents during the investigation.
Norfolk turned himself in on June 23 and was placed under a $250,000 bond at the Haywood County Jail with the assistance of the US Marshals Service.
