Mayor Paul Young reported Tuesday that construction is set to resume on the xAI greywater recycling plant, in order to cool its supercomputer without drawing from the aquifer’s drinking water.
Following Young’s “productive meeting” with SpaceXAI President Michael Nicolls and MLGW President & CEO Doug McGowen, construction is set to restart no later than the first quarter of 2027.
McGowen stated that construction cannot begin now, since the project’s former engineers are no longer employed, and so a new engineering team must be hired.
