The Memphis Police Department is teaming up with Downtown businesses to make the area safer with the help of their new command center opened last year.
In addition to 300 AI-powered cameras with clear pictures and real-time monitoring, MPD is connecting Downtown businesses via a safety network program so that they can radio their command center and vice versa.
Since the opening of their command center, MPD reports that crime in Downtown has decreased by 55%, with the city reporting overall that crime Downtown from January through May has decreased by 35% compared to last year.
