A 2-year-old boy who was found inside a bullet-filled SUV had been shot, police confirmed on Wednesday.
Although the child’s injuries were severe, they were ultimately deemed non-life-threatening.
A white SUV with gunshot holes, broken windows, and damaged tires was found by an officer responding to “an aggravated assault involving firearms discharged” at a Westwood residence, according to the Memphis Police Department.
After picking up her son from school, the SUV’s driver reported to the police that she was involved in an accident close to South Third Street and West Raines Road. She also mentioned that a green Ford Mustang had been circling her.
The woman informed MPD that she drove home to dial 911 after hitting a curb.
First responders arrived to the woman’s home and found her son had been shot, and she later told investigators that before picking her son, she went to a McDonald’s where she had an argument with a man in a Ford Mustang.
