Keisha Smith, recently mourning the loss of her father and son, decided to take a trip to Crater of Diamonds State Park in Arkansas, in hopes of finding some much-needed comfort.
It was during this time that Keisha miraculously unearthed a 3.09-carat white diamond, which is the second-largest diamond registered at the park so far this year and valued between $10,000 to $30,000.
Keisha named her gem the Za’Novia Liberty Diamond: “Za’Novia” to represent the names of her two grandchildren; and “Liberty” since she found her diamond on the year of America’s 250th birthday.
“To me, it looks like a heart. That’s the first thing I saw when I found it,” Keisha said. “In October, I lost my son, and we just buried my dad a week ago. It has been a lot! I really needed this. I really prayed for this, and I just can’t believe it actually happened!”
