The Memphis Police Department (MPD) confirmed Tuesday morning that a 17-year-old had been taken into custody in relation to the shooting death of a teen at a Whitehaven gas station after his high school prom.
The suspect is charged with first-degree murder and perpetration of a robbery.
He was found in the same black Mercedes GLK reported at the scene of the shooting, and the arrest occurred at a business on Walnut Grove Road.
One male victim was found shot outside a convenience shop on Sunday morning, according to the police, and was rushed to the hospital in critical condition before passing away there.
Family members identified the victim as Southaven High School student LaDainian Cathey.
