UPDATE: The shooting victim has been confirmed dead after being transported to the hospital in critical condition.
According to the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office, there was a shooting in Shelby Farms.
The student was identified as a 17-year-old junior at Millington High School. No suspect is in custody.
Two ambulances were at the ongoing crime scene at the park. No information on injuries was provided by the sheriff’s office.
One witness told WREG reporters they were there for “Senior Skip Day”. The student said they heard shooting while playing with water guns.
According to the witness, one unidentified teenager was shot among the hundreds in attendance.
At around 12:15 p.m., deputies responded to a shots-fired call at Shelby Farms. Deputies arrived and found a person had been shot.
