MATA is now asking for another loan from the city. The company plans to request a $13 million loan from the Memphis City Council.
One year ago, MATA requested a $5 million loan to keep buses on their routes.
This comes right after WREG detectives uncovered a $60 million budget deficit and questionable spending, which has resulted in public criticism against the transit authority.
To continue operating, the transportation authority depends on grant, state, and federal funding.
However, they claim that delays in federal funding have resulted in a cash flow problem that may affect operations.
