In the most recent set of charges brought in the government’s extensive gambling investigation, former NBA players Malik Beasley and Ed Davis have been indicted.
Beasley agreed to modify his performance depending on prop bets in specific games while he was a member of the Milwaukee Bucks in 2024.
The six-person indictment revealed that Beasley relied on Davis, a former teammate, for financial support due to financial difficulties, including millions of dollars in gambling losses.
During his 12-year career, Davis earned almost $48 million as a journeyman, mostly as a backup. In 2013–14, he was a member of the Memphis Grizzlies.
U.S. Attorney Joseph Nocella Jr. said Beasley and others “turned professional basketball into a criminal betting operation.”
