Construction began Tuesday in Wilson, Arkansas on what will be “the nation’s largest solar energy project,” which will generate enough electricity to power more than 315,000 Arkansas homes each year.
Dubbed the Steel River Energy Center by collaborators Google and Cypress Creek Energy, the project is expected to create around 1,400 jobs and an estimated $300 million in local tax revenue.
Construction is slated to occur in three phases, with the final phase set to be completed by 2029.
