On this day in 1977, Elvis Presley gave his final live performance at the Market Square Arena in Indianapolis, Indiana.
While neither audience nor artist anticipated this being The King’s curtain call, several eerie events in hindsight occurred at the concert such as Elvis inviting friends and family members on stage, as well as singing “Hurt” and “Bridge Over Troubled Water” (both of which are heavy with emotion and vulnerability that almost felt like an unintentional farewell).
Elvis Presley would ultimately pass away at his Graceland mansion in Memphis on August 16, 1977, at the age of just 42, leaving behind a legacy that few have been able to match to this day.
