According to Memphis Light, Gas and Water (MLGW), a significant road closure in downtown Memphis is scheduled to begin on Friday and is anticipated to remain in place for roughly three months.
In order to build new underground electrical infrastructure, the utility company will close a portion of North Parkway. The closure is between Danny Thomas Boulevard and Dunlap Street — about a half-mile stretch.
Additionally, MLGW announced that Manassas Street from North Parkway to Galloway Street would be closed in both directions.
Drivers should still be able to access local businesses during the shutdown, according to MLGW.
Beginning Friday, May 15, #MLGW crews will close eastbound traffic on North Parkway from Danny Thomas Boulevard to Dunlap Street. Additionally, Manassas Street will be closed to northbound and southbound traffic between North Parkway and Galloway Street.
