On Tuesday, the Federal Bureau of Investigation took custody of the man who was accused of stalking Memphis Mayor Paul Young.
After allegedly scaling a fence and knocking on the mayor’s home in East Memphis, 26-year-old Trenton Abston was detained and charged in June 2025 with attempted kidnapping, stalking, and aggravated criminal trespass.
According to the police, Abston was in possession of a taser, duct tape, and a rope when the event occurred.
According to District Attorney Steve Mulroy, an investigation later revealed that Abston owned a storage unit with a list of five additional elected or appointed officials along with the names of their relatives.
His bond is set at $4 million and was previously set at $2 million after the alleged list of five other appointed officials was discovered.
