In what prosecutors claim is the largest fentanyl trafficking case in Southaven, Mississippi’s history, two individuals have been found guilty.
According to the DeSoto County District Attorney’s Office, Michael Walker and Richard Vaught pleaded guilty to trafficking charges in DeSoto County Circuit Court.
In 2022, the Southaven Police Department conducted an operation at the Homewood Suites on Airways Boulevard in Southaven that resulted in the recovery of 4,387 doses of fentanyl.
Vaught was sentenced to 15 years day-for-day in the custody of the Mississippi Department of Corrections, followed by 10 years of post-release supervision.
Walker will be sentenced at a later date.
