In an effort to spur economic growth and job creation, West Memphis Mayor Marco McClendon unveiled a number of new projects for West Memphis, such as an indoor water park resort and a new Buc-ee’s.
The Buc-ee’s is expected to be the third largest in the US and will be situated off I-40 close to 7th Street. Next month is when the Buc-ee’s are expected to break ground.
The West Memphis Epic Center will also be built close to the Southland Casino Hotel and will have restaurants, including Pappadeaux, retail establishments, and a hotel.
The mayor emphasized that taxpayers won’t be burdened by the new projects because the money collected from these enterprises’ taxes will go toward improving the roads and streets.
Plans are also underway for new police and fire departments.
