Last Saturday, the MidSouth was hit by an unexpected “bow echo” storm that tore through the area with straight-line winds topping between 60-90mph.
According to MLGW President and CEO Doug McGowen during his interview with Memphis Morning News (linked here), after having 140,000 customers without power, he and his crews have since restored power to 92,000, with estimates to have full power restored by Thursday at the latest.
McGowen credits his team’s efforts over the past two years trimming trees with preventing greater storm damage than was expected.
