The Memphis Zoo said on Monday that it is in mourning for Lucy, one of their cherished red pandas.
The oldest female red panda in AZA-accredited zoos, Lucy, was 14 years old, according to a social media post made by zoo officials.
In addition, Lucy actively participated in behavioral training and conservation research.
“Lucy brought joy to everyone she encountered. She will be deeply missed by her dedicated caretakers, the Memphis Zoo family, and the countless guests whose visits were made brighter by catching a glimpse of her high in the trees,” zoo officials stated.
