In Wilson, Arkansas, Cypress Creek Energy and Google held a ceremony to commemorate the beginning of the two phases of construction of the Steel River Energy Center, which is expected to increase employment and strengthen the Natural State’s energy sector.
According to Steel River Energy Center officials, the project is anticipated to produce $300 million in local tax revenue and about 700 construction jobs per phase.
In addition to the project’s economic advantages, they stated that Google and Cypress Creek are investing a total of $8 million in community investment funds to support local communities.
“As Arkansas’s economy continues to grow and attract new industries, ensuring reliable and affordable electricity for our communities and businesses is more important than ever. The Steel River Energy Center represents a significant step forward in meeting our state’s increasing demand for power,” said Laura Landreaux, president and CEO of Entergy Arkansas.
