To succeed Tami Sawyer as General Sessions Clerk Pro Tempore, interviews are being held in the courtroom on Tuesday.
Until Sawyer’s case is resolved or her term expires, whichever happens first, the person chosen to succeed her would serve.
Sawyer will be able to return to her job if the charges are dropped.
The nominees will be chosen by a total of fifteen General Sessions criminal and civil court judges.
The replacement may be named as early as this week.
One month ago, Sawyer was indicted on federal corruption charges. She was freed on her own recognizance after entering a not guilty plea to all counts.
