Lagerald Vick, a former basketball star for the University of Kansas, has been charged with attempted first-degree murder after authorities claim he shot a man at a July 4 part in Frayser.
Vick was taken to the Shelby County Jail on Saturday. Prior to playing for the Jayhawks from 2015 to 2019, he was a standout player at Douglass High School.
According to police, the victim told investigators that he got into a verbal altercation with a man brandishing a weapon while attending a party at Greenbriar Apartments.
According to the affidavit, the victim attempted to flee, but the suspect pursued him and shot him in the back. Police said Vick then fled the location before being captured.
Vick’s bond is set at $1.5 million.
