The Doubletree Hotel in Downtown Memphis is slated to reopen after a proposed $55 million renovation plan.
Originally opened in 1927 as the Hotel Tennessee, an Ohio-based company is hoping to turn the 280-room property into a four-star, “boutique/lifestyle” hotel to support 75 jobs that could open as soon as 2028.
Keven Kane, CEO of the Memphis Visitors and Convention Bureau, is hoping the proposed renovations will improve the number of hotel rooms available for conventions and groups planning to come to Memphis.
