On Monday, Jonathan Brush, a man found guilty of a fatal road rage stabbing, received a six-year prison sentence.
Last month, a Shelby County jury convicted Jonathan Brush of voluntary manslaughter in the 2022 death of Memphis chef Jody Moyt.
Brush just needs to complete 30% of his sentence to be eligible for parole; he has already completed four years in prison while awaiting trial.
Jody Moyt was a well-known chef at Lafayette’s Music Room. Ten minutes after leaving Murphy’s bar on Madison at 10:35 p.m. on April 24, 2022, he was killed. Brush allegedly stabbed Moyt 19 times after a confrontation after a traffic collision, according to the prosecution.
“How can you kill somebody over a minor traffic accident? I mean, the airbags didn’t even deploy. No one was hurt in the accident, “Moyt’s mother said. “There was a murder here. Jody was murdered.”
