As many parents face higher grocery bills during the start of Summer, MSCS is opening more than 100 Summer meal and learning sites across Shelby County.
“As we know, the climate of what’s going on in our community right now. Gas prices are super high. Food prices are extremely high,” MSCS Board member Sable Otey said. “I have three kids, so I understand myself, you know, I’m going to have to bring in more food into the household because my kids are not going to school and eating daily like they would be. So, we understand that that’s a strain on our families, and we want to be able to support.”
Children 18 and younger can receive meals at participating locations from May 27-July 31, and parents are not required to show identification for children to receive meals at said locations.
