As part of his two nominations for a new nine-person oversight board, Tennessee Lieutenant Governor Randy McNally will reinstate a longtime elected school board member to Memphis-Shelby County Schools.
Dedrick Brittenum Jr., a local attorney and former Memphis City Councilman and businessman Billy Orgel were appointed by McNally on Tuesday.
The majority of the board was chosen by Governor Bill Lee on Friday, and the nine picks from the state’s leading Republicans will be completed by two more choices by House Speaker Cameron Sexton, one from Shelby County and one from another part of Tennessee.
