To demolish The Commercial Appeal newspaper’s previous location at 495 Union Ave., a demolition permission has been submitted.
The permit indicates that the 95,000-square-foot structure close to downtown would be demolished to the slab at an estimated cost of half a million dollars.
There are plans to replace the existing hospital on Jefferson Avenue with a new Regional One hospital on the site.
“We feel this is an optimal site for a new hospital, and it gives us more flexibility to program the facility,” Dr. Reginald Coopwood, president and CEO of Regional One Health, said at the time.
