More than 70 employees of Fayette County Public Schools will be let go at the end of June.
FCPS notified state officials that 75 employees will be laid off on June 30 at Fayette County Public Schools in Somerville, Tenn. The last day of school is May 21.
The letter states that assistance will be coordinated with the company and impacted employees by the Greater Memphis Local Workforce Development Area rapid response team.
During a school board meeting on April 23 , it was said that over the past 30 years, school enrollment had decreased by over 50%. In 1989, it was 4700 students. In 2026, it’s 2428.
