Today is Shelby County’s primary election day.
The candidates who will represent the Democratic and Republican parties in the general election will on the ballets.
The ballot includes several races. Voters will decide multiple key races, from mayor to sheriff.
Candidates from districts one, six, eight, and nine of the Memphis Shelby County school district will also be on the ballot.
Another big race on the ballot comes in the form of county commissioners.
More than 577,000 people are registered to vote, and more than 57,000 people have already cast early ballots. However, this year’s early voting saw a higher turnout than that of recent past primary elections.
