It’s been exactly one year since the Memphis Safe Task Force were deployed to began their work to crack down on violent crimes across the city.
Since then, murders have plummeted down 37% according to the Office of the U.S. Marshal for the Western District of Tennessee. Reports also indicated more than 13,000 arrests since last September ranging from murder, drug charges, and various other kinds of warrants.
Over 2,000 firearms have been taken off the streets, with over 1,400 of the arrests were known gang members.
This comes after President Trump ordered federal agencies to aggressively address cities with ongoing violent crimes like Washington D.C. and eventually Memphis. On September 15, 2025, President Trump issued a memorandum stating that these agencies were to prioritize “making Memphis safe” and “restoring public order.”
There is no word on when the Memphis Safe Task Force will end operations, however, the National Guard has already left the Bluff City.
