Shelby County Commissioner Mick Wright was invited with other civic members to tour FedEx Forum and see exactly what it is that needs renovated. During that tour, Commissioner Wright says he gained more appreciation for the need to spend the money towards improving the facility. He also says that the Grizzlies organization impressed upon him that Memphis is the smallest market in the NBA and there are many other markets that are “begging for a team” and want what we have. I don’t get the sense that they don’t want to leave.
The Grizzlies want to partner with the city / county to solve some of the issues that plague downtown.
