Iranian officials say the strait will remain closed unless their conditions are met. Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi said Iran alone will decide when the route reopens. Ship-tracking data showed just two vessels passed through on Friday, compared with more than 130 per day before the war.

The standoff is also affecting commercial shipping. Two vessels operated by the UAE’s ADNOC were attacked while crossing the strait, with the UAE blaming Iran. No casualties were reported in those incidents.

Trump has also acknowledged the economic impact at home, telling Americans to accept higher gasoline prices as the conflict continues. U.S. fuel prices are now about 29% higher than a year ago.

Stoudemire, a six-time All-Star during a 14-year NBA career with the Phoenix Suns, New York Knicks, Dallas Mavericks and Miami Heat, was part of an eight-member class of individuals enshrined.

The five-time All-NBA member spoke on the importance of perseverance and belief, key messages for someone who grew up in poverty.

"The most important aspect that I can give, that I experienced - when you're growing up in an environment when it's not easy to make it out of, the most important factor for me was, first of all, stay out of trouble... stay positive, stay focused, stay meaningful, and always keep in mind that perseverance, no matter what one goes through, one can persevere through anything," Stoudemire said.

Joining Stoudemire among NBA honorees were legendary coach Glenn "Doc" Rivers, game contributor Mike D'Antoni and longtime official Joey Crawford.

Rivers, who won a championship with the Boston Celtics in 2008 and has piled up 1,194 wins over a 27-year coaching career, also averaged 10.9 points per game in an 13-year tenure as a player.

He was presented by the three players who brought him a title in Boston: Paul Pierce, Ray Allen and Kevin Garnett.

"When you win a title, it's like receiving a blood transfusion. You three guys are connected for the rest of your lives - you really are. And I want you guys to hear that, and understand that," Rivers said.

D'Antoni helped revolutionize offense in the NBA, contributing to the modern approach to basketball featuring 3-pointers, the pick-and-roll offense, and a focus on spacing.

"Our players and coaches had the courage to embrace a different way of playing, and together, we influenced the game," D'Antoni said.

Crawford set records for the most NBA playoff (374) and Finals (50) games worked, a testament to his ability as a referee.

"As the great Muhammad Ali once said ‘it ain't bragging if you did it' - and I did," Crawford said.

Three WNBA standouts were enshrined Saturday: Elena Delle Donne, Chamique Holdsclaw and Candace Parker.

A two-time WNBA Most Valuable Player and 2019 champion with the Washington Mystics, Delle Donne said her goodbyes to the player she once was.

"I've realized this speech isn't really about getting into the Hall of Fame. It's about saying goodbye. Not to basketball... but goodbye to the player I've been for as long as I can remember, where every season began with hope, every summer had a purpose, and every morning I woke up asking one question - ‘how can I get better today?'" Delle Donne said.

"I've spent my whole life in love with this game."

Holdsclaw, a three-time NCAA champion and six-time All-Star in the WNBA, spoke on the importance of mental health.

"Anyone carrying a weight that never shows up in the box score, I see you," Holdsclaw said. "Your struggle does not disqualify you. Your story is not over and your greatness is still within you."

Parker, the two-time WNBA MVP and three-time champion called basketball her "muse," while asking younger players to carry the torch well.

"There will be others that follow, but my wish is: may you grow it, may you love it, may you enjoy it, and may you leave it better."

The 1996 Team USA women's basketball team, which won gold at the Olympics, was also honored as a group.

That team, which included Hall of Famers Lisa Leslie, Rebecca Lobo, Dawn Staley and Sheryl Swoopes, was instrumental in getting the WNBA off the ground.

"This team was the foundation of what the WNBA became," Lobo said. "It was that year together, of hard times and laughter, that made our team be able to be what it was."

Gonzaga coach Mark Few was inducted from the NCAA ranks on the strength of his 27 NCAA Tournaments, two national title appearances with the Bulldogs and a pair of Naismith Coach of the Year honors (2017, 2021).

"This isn't about me tonight," Few said. "The greatest thing we built at Gonzaga wasn't a basketball program - it was a family and a culture. It kept people wanting to come back. That is one of the greatest rewards that a coach who has stayed at the same place gets to experience."

CNN highlighted newly released FBI crime data showing a sharp reduction in killings nationwide. The FBI reported that murder and non-negligent manslaughter fell 18.1% from 2024 to 2025, while violent crime overall dropped 9.3%. The homicide rate reached 4.1 per 100,000 people, matching levels last recorded in the mid-1950s.

President Donald Trump pointed to the numbers during an appearance at the Nassau County Police Academy in New York, crediting his administration’s law enforcement policies with helping drive the decline.

Crime researchers have offered a more cautious assessment. The downward trend began before Trump returned to office and has appeared in communities with different policing strategies, economic conditions and political leadership.

Early figures from 2026 indicate that homicides and other violent crimes have continued to decline, extending a national trend that began after the pandemic-era surge.

The move creates roster and financial flexibility for the Cavaliers, who continue to attempt to lure James Harden back into the fold, along with pursuing free agents forwards Peyton Watson and Jonathan Kuminga.

He played in 30 games for the Cavaliers after competing in 40 for Sacramento last season. Although he averaged 8.2 points per game for the Cavs, his season average was 10.8 ppg. Schroder has averaged in double figures in all but his rookie season.

For his career, Schroder has played in 912 games and made 441 starts, averaging 13.7 points per game and 4.9 assists per contest. Schroder averaged a career-high 19.4 points for the Hawks in 2017-18 and finished second in Most Improved Player balloting when he averaged 18.9 points for the Oklahoma City Thunder in 2019-20.

Mann, 25, averaged 5.5 points per game in 53 outings with Charlotte last season. He spent two-plus seasons in Oklahoma City (2021-23) and was dealt to Charlotte during the 2023-24 campaign.

Mann has played in 234 games (60 starts) and averages 8.5 points per game.

Only the top 70 golfers from the entire season earned an invite to this prestigious tournament. There is no halfway cut this week, meaning all 69 players will compete through Sunday for a massive $20 million prize.

However, the real pressure lies in the standings: only the top 50 players after this weekend will survive and advance to next week’s playoff event.b

Sawyer turned herself in at the federal courts in Memphis after being charged with wire fraud and money laundering.

From August 29, 2024, to June 22, 2025, Sawyer allegedly embezzledoover $44,000 in public funds for her personal use, according to the prosecution.

Sawyer reportedly paid for personal expenses with a county credit card, travel advances, and procurement cards given to other county employes.

She entered a not guilty plea to every allegation and on January 11, she will go on trial.
