A chemical explosion occurred yesterday morning at the Loveland Products plant in Greenville, Mississippi, with the cause being connected to a fire from a herbicide chemical in a hot box.
Loveland, which is based in Loveland, Colorado, is a manufacturer of fertilizer, plant nutrition, and products for crop protection.
Nutrien, the parent company of Loveland, released the following statement:
“This morning, November 4th, a fire occurred at a Loveland Products facility in Greenville, Mississippi. We can confirm that no one was injured, and the fire is currently being managed. Site leadership are working with the local first responders on scene.”
Greenville Mayor Errick D. Simmons is asking residents to avoid the immediate area of the plant, saying, “Our first priority is the safety of our residents, our first responders, and everyone working at or near the facility. We are coordinating with emergency response agencies to assess the situation, contain the fire, and determine whether additional protective measures are necessary.”
