The family of Rebecca Case, one of the victims in the deadly four-vehicle crash on Highway 385 on October 28th, has received an outpouring of support following the passing of the mother of nine.
Case was on her way home from work when she was killed during the collision caused by drunk driver Derek Kyle Johnson, who is currently being held in the Shelby County Jail and faces charges of vehicular homicide, DUI, reckless driving, a seat belt violation, driving with a suspended license, and an open container.
Since this tragedy, an online fundraiser has raised more than $155,000 to cover Case’s funeral costs and the needs of the children she leaves behind.
“We will never be able to properly thank everyone who has been such a blessing to our family,” the Cases said in an official statement. “Church members, businesses, neighbors, and even strangers who have given of themselves through prayers, meals, and a shoulder to cry on. Such kindness has held us up in the hardest days of our lives.”
The visitation for Rebecca Case will be held Tuesday November 3rd at noon at Hickory Withe Baptist Church in Fayette County, with the funeral to follow at 2:00PM.
