Christa Pike, who was put to death almost a week ago for the brutal 1995 murder of Colleen Slemmer, is alive, awake, and speaking.
Her botched execution was the second failed attempt in Tennessee in 2026, which resulted in the TN Department of Corrections Commissioner Frank Strada to step down from his position.
This update was shared by her attorneys, who just a few days ago confirmed she was in a ventilator and unconscious.
As far as her physical condition, there has been no update. She still remains hospitalized.
Her execution attempt was an injection of two doses of pentobarbital, which doctors are working towards removing from her system.
