Frank Strada, the TN Department of Correction Commissioner, is stepping down from his position in October, according to TN Gov. Bill Lee.
Of course, this comes days after the botched execution of Christa Pike, the second failed execution in Tennessee this year.
Pike is still being hospitalized, and there has been no confirmation on what Tennessee’s next steps will be.
“Commissioner Strada has served with integrity, and I appreciate his willingness to put the interests of Tennesseans first during this difficult moment,” Governor Lee said. “I have accepted his decision to step down and am grateful for his commitment to ensuring a smooth leadership transition.”
Since the botched execution, a third-party investigation has been ordered by the Governor.
